You can propose during a mansion tour, but professional photography on the grounds follows the Preservation Society’s rules. My favorite workaround is to tour The Breakers, where ticketed guests park free, then walk across the street to Ochre Point on the Cliff Walk. The mansion is still right behind you, and there are no photography restrictions.
