Is Beavertail accessible for a proposal, or is it hard to get to?
I consider Beavertail the most accessible rugged coastline in Rhode Island, and it’s a big reason I love proposing here with clients. Unlike many of the state’s dramatic cliff walks and coastal trails that require long hikes or difficult footing, Beavertail’s paved parking areas sit just steps from the rocky shoreline — so you get true rugged-coast scenery without a strenuous approach. That makes it perfect for surprise proposals, where I need logistics to stay simple and discreet.
A quick note on footwear: please wear sensible shoes. Avoid open-toed sandals and high heels — yes, I’ve genuinely had a couple of clients show up in 4″ heels. I was more terrified than they were. If you’re the one planning the surprise, do your partner a favor and gently nudge them toward sensible shoes ahead of time.
