The shoulder seasons are often my favorite: quieter, cheaper and full of beautiful light. Summer gives you the longest evenings but brings crowds, festivals and tough parking. Avoid Fort Adams from late July into early August during the Folk and Jazz Festivals, and note that Castle Hill Inn typically closes in January.
