he 2017 RI Classic High School Indoor Track and Field Meet: A Night of Record-Breaking Performances

The 2017 RI Classic High School Indoor Track and Field Meet was held at the Providence Career and Technical Academy on February 4, 2017. The meet was a huge success, with many record-breaking performances.

Some of the highlights of the meet included:

  • Kaitlyn Burrell of La Salle Academy broke the state record in the 55-meter hurdles with a time of 8.04 seconds.
  • Samantha Anagnos of East Greenwich High School broke the state record in the 1,000 meters with a time of 2:55.12.
  • Jacob Zollo of Moses Brown School broke the state record in the 600 meters with a time of 1:21.18.
  • The La Salle Academy boys’ 4×400-meter relay team broke the state record with a time of 3:23.53.

The meet was also a great opportunity for many athletes to qualify for the New England Championships. The New England Championships are the highest level of high school track and field competition in the region, and they are held every year in Boston.

The 2017 RI Classic High School Indoor Track and Field Meet was a great night of competition and record-breaking performances. It was a fitting end to a great indoor track and field season in Rhode Island.
