A low key image is one that contains predominantly dark tones and colors; it is the playground of shadows. This style of photography captures and can create drama and a bit of mystery.

For Morgen’s implied nudity shoot, it was a perfect technique; we could hint the Morgen was nude but reveal nothing.

My objective was to backlight Morgen and allow the light to wrap around the edges to show her body shape and nothing else. The second image shows my set up. I used and octagonal softbox with a grid to control the direction of light. To provide a hint of color on the black backdrop as second light was used with a purple gel and a pair of barn doors.

I like this image so much that I have used it on the header of my blog.
