On a drizzly, rainy, afternoon in October, Sophia, her mother Cheryl and I had a fun shoot a Beavertail State Park, Jamestown, Rhode Island.
The most important piece of equipment in this shoot was the umbrella that Mom held over Sophia before each press of the shutter.
To bring the images to life on a dark afternoon, I used ‘the’ portrait lens… Canon’s EF 85mm f/1.2. I set it to f/2.2 which allowed me to shoot at ISO 100. Fill flash was essential and to provide soft, diffused light, I used a Canon 580EX paired with a Gary Fong light modifier to diffuse the light.
Camera body for the shoot was Canon’s EOS 1 X.\
