Your Fort Adams Proposal Photographer, Lincoln Drive

As a Fort Adams proposal photographer, Lincoln Drive is a location I keep coming back to, and it’s honestly a bit of an overlooked gem. It sits on the opposite side of Fort Adams from the main fort area, and what makes it special for me is one simple thing: it’s the only spot I know of where you can drive right along the coast and park directly on the water. That means I can guide my clients from the car straight into the proposal moment with almost no walk, no setup delay, and very little chance of tipping off a partner before the big moment.

I’ll be honest, though — the light here can be tricky. Because of the direction Lincoln Drive faces and the lack of any real shade, I have to think carefully about timing and positioning to get the best shot. It’s not a location where you can just show up and expect perfect light; it takes some experience to work with it well.

What I love most as a Fort Adams proposal photographer is how easy it is for me to walk clients to the exact spots that work, with the Newport Bridge and open bay as a backdrop. The seclusion also means we’re not fighting crowds or distractions — it feels private and personal, even though it’s a public spot.

This location has also been genuinely perfect for clients with accessibility needs. I had one disabled client where Lincoln Drive was the ideal choice specifically because of the drive-up parking — there was no hike, no uneven trail, no barrier between the car and the proposal spot. For couples where mobility is a concern, I honestly can’t think of a better location on the Rhode Island coast.

After the proposal, it’s also a great spot to just enjoy the moment — a walk along the shoreline, champagne on the water’s edge, that kind of thing — before heading off to celebrate.
